INTRODUCTION

Nebula is a conceptual sci-fi streaming platform designed to showcase genre defining films and series ranging from cyberpunk thrillers to cosmic horror, dystopian fables, and speculative science fiction. This project imagines a full brand identity, a series of genre-specific hero posters, and a design system that captures the diversity and tone of the sci-fi genre.

Role

I led the concept development, visual identity, key art design, UI mockups, and motion ideation. My role spanned art direction, poster design, and user interface design for both mobile and web platforms.

goals

My primary goal was to create a sci-fi-centered brand that allowed me to explore multiple sub-genres within speculative fiction. By creating fictional titles across these genres, I aimed to design key art that not only felt distinct per genre but lived cohesively within one branded entertainment system.

moodboarding

To capture the tone of each sub-genre, I created targeted moodboards referencing iconic films, color palettes, and layout styles.

Cyberpunk: glitchy, neon, vertical layouts
Alien Horror: radial distortion, signal interference
Propaganda Sci-fi: bold iconography, worn textures
Space Travel: lens flares, astronauts, minimalism
Biotech/Utopia Horror: pastel dystopias, biological textures

These informed both poster aesthetics and UI themes for each film's platform appearance.

CONCEPTING

Using sketching and word association exercises, I generated concepts for each film and determined their visual signatures. I explored thematic hooks like isolation, infection, exploration, rebellion, or distortion to guide each poster's tone and structure.

POSTER DESIGN

Each fictional film title was assigned a sub-genre and visual identity:

Neon Rift – Cyberpunk dystopia
Void Signal – Cosmic horror
Mechara – Military propaganda sci-fi
Parallel Eden – Biological utopia gone wrong
Omega Horizon – Space travel and isolation

Visual Language for Nebula

Nebula was designed as a sleek, minimal streaming platform built to spotlight bold, genre first sci-fi titles. The identity reflects deep space tone through color, sleek typography, and subtle motion accents. While each film explores its own visual world, Nebula’s UI and branding remain clean and understated to let the storytelling shine.

DIGITAL & UI DESIGN

I built out mobile and desktop mockups of the streaming service:

Hero banner takeovers for each film
Graphics for horizontal and vertical thumbnails
UI accent colors shift based on CTA

MOTION DIRECTION

To elevate platform interactivity and digital marketing, I ideated a teaser animation sequence.

Glitch stack reveals for Neon Rift
Rotational lab focus for Parallel Eden
Paint reveal effect for Mechara

Each transition was crafted to feel like a chapter shift within the sci-fi multiverse.

MOCK UPS

I created mock ups for UI on streaming platforms for mobile devices, tablets, computers and TV. I also created mock ups for marketing tv series OOH such as billboards and print on walls.
